Third Rail

Adam, Scott and Ben were in a 5-piece Sheffield band Shallow until the other two went away to university. They then became Third Rail. They had a few practices and got some songs written and advertised for a bass player. Johnnie replied and joined. Things didn't really work out so in February 1998 (at a Groop Dog Drill gig) they asked James to join and play drums instead of Ben. The addition of James meant that they were able to be as fast and loud as they had always wanted and things progressed at speed.

On May 19th 1998 Third Rail played their first gig at Under The Boardwalk. More gigs follow at under The Boardwalk, Morrissey's Riverside, The Leadmill and other venues in Sheffield. In July 1998 they recorded three songs at Fudge Studios and then at the end of September 1998, johnnie quit the band and was replaced on bass by Chas from the Stikkelbrix. A few more gigs followed, but Chas left in December of 1998 and they found a new bass player - Chris. A few months and gigs went by and then in May 1999 (at a Superfine gig), midway through a week of recording sessions for the album "Third Rail" johnnie rejoined the band in place of Chris. The gigs continued regularly until January of 2000, when johnnie left again and was replaced by Chas again. Third Rail continued to practise and write new songs and even started to record again, but the band died it's final death in September 2000 when Scott moved to Leeds. The "Swan Song" e.p. marks the band's demise.

At some point a rather poor website was designed by Adam and Scott with the help of Phil from betty's clinic.
