The sprinG began in October of 1997. Johnnie was listening to "Eerieconsilliation" by Elevator through Hell for the first time, when he had the idea of writing a concept album. He asked James (drummer from the sTriP) to help him and James said yes.
They got some songs together and after the sTriP broke up they recorded the basic tracks in a practice studio at Red Tape in Sheffield (in June 1998). Unfortunately all sorts of things happened to delay the completion of the album, but eventually it was finished - with the addition of Alice on vocals and recorder in March of 2000. The album is called "a story about a little girl, the moon and me" and comes complete with a separate story book (with pictures).
In early 2001 Johnnie, James and Alice decided to write and record more songs. They began to practice regularly as a three-piece with Alice and James playing drums and Johnnie playing guitar. In April 2001 they began recording a second album in Lincoln with further recording in Sheffield at Yellow Arch studios and sPookY sounds. These sessions led to the releas eof "meet me under the sea" a four song CD e.p. in Sept '01.
They had hoped to start gigging around this time, but alice got pregnant and that put an end to the idea of gigs. The birth of Sloan on 1st August 2002 and Torin on 2nd November 2003 has meant that the recordings reamin unfinished. Some songs have now been on tape for nearly three years, which hopefully means they will finish themselves soon.....
